weekend at the lake

I spent the weekend in Idaho at Bear Lake with a fun group of new and old friends.
{Adrienne, Lorri and myself Friday night as we got into town.  I wish Christi was in this picture, she was our hostess with the mostest and made the weekend special.}
The view when I woke up the next morning.
I can't call the place where we stayed a cabin exactly. It is used to impress investors for a new golf/ski community being developed nearby and it definitely has the wow factor.  I took a picture of the sunrise, then crawled back into my giant fluffy bed.

The wind kicked up in the afternoon so we ditched the boat and went to Bloomington Lake up a canyon somewhere close to where we stayed.  I wish I paid more attention to where we were going because it is a must see if you are ever in the area.  My plan was to come along for the view and the hike.

No way would I be getting into a lake fed by glacier water.  Bear Lake is cold enough.
But there was a rope swing!  I can't help myself.  I'm a sucker for that kind of thing.  The guys went first, doing their back flips and dives making it look more and more appealing.  I think I surprised them, and myself, when I handed off my camera and sunglasses and grabbed the rope.  They were still giving me instructions on where to grab the rope as I sailed out over the water.
I'm glad I didn't test the water first.  It made Bear Lake feel tropical!  And if dropping 20 feet into the water from the rope wasn't enough, we hiked to other side of the lake, swam along the cliffs, climbed to the edge {just left of the glacier in the picture below} and jumped off those too.

I'm happy to be alive and refreshed after such a great weekend.  Thanks again Christi and Ryan for a lovely time.

  1. You are CRAZY! I love it. I jumped off a roof into Lake Anna last summer, but at least that water was warm. You are now in the Polar Bear club.

  4. what a beautiful spot that rope swing looks fun but I don't think I would have liked the cold temperature of the water
